How To Make Money On The Side From Home- A Quest For Financial Independence

I have worked hard for someone else for over twenty years now, so I was looking for change. A change that I had control of.

About five years ago, my life changed on me and I found myself going through a divorce. It made me realize how important family was to me and encouraged a desire to spend more time with my family while I could.

I wanted to learn how to make money on the side from home, enough to eventually earn a sustainable income for the family. I, like so many other people, was tired of having to spend my days away for ungodly amounts of time just to get by.

Internet marketing seemed the perfect fit the more and more I learned about it.

Back then, my job was seasonal, so I had a few winter months I was laid off from work. This gave me the opportunity to search the web for an online opportunity, looking for something that could teach me how to make money on the side from home. Then I could spend more time with my then 8 year old son.

I began scouring through programs that promised to teach anyone how to make money on the side from home, but it always cost something, a red flag for me.

Coming across scam after scam, I got frustrated and realized the only people making money online were the ones selling me the programs!

And that's when light went off!

I then began to investigate affiliate marketing at its core; representing a product and actively promoting it for a fee. I was immediately attracted to the idea of having a website, constantly active in referring potential costumers and getting paid for it.

I felt I had finally come across how to make money on the side from home, even while I slept!

But there are a lot of sites out there that someone small like me would need to compete against. I didn't have any money to invest, so conventional advertising was out of the question.

And then I discovered you had a choice with affiliate marketing. I could either spend money to advertise a website or invest time through free marketing techniques to get the word out there.

Weighing my choices of spending money or time on developing and promoting a website, I chose time.

It was simple, really.

I was unemployed, so I didn't have any money to spend, but time was a plentiful commodity. So, I spent the next couple months trying to figure the game out for myself.

I soon went back to work because I had to put food on the table. I was frustrated because my unsuccessful attempt at affiliate market didn't go anywhere. You get out what you put in, and at the time, I guess I wasn't ready to put in what was necessary.

After about three years, I couldn't get affiliate marketing out of my head. I always wondered what if I had continued with learning how to make money on the side from home through affiliate marketing? Where would I be now?

Unable to get rid of the bug, I started investing some time into affiliate marketing again. But this time was different. I

I started getting acquainted with as many free marketing strategies I could come across. I don't have money to throw away at learning, so every penny needs to count.

There are many potential market strategies that can be utilized without an initial monetary investment. SEO marketing, article marketing, social and video marketing can all be done without a cost being incurred, opening the door to reaching many potential customers without any out-of-pocket expense.

Through the Affiliate Experiment, I want to see how far affiliate marketing can be taken when learning how to make money on the side from home. Can a living be made online, without prior experience? If so, how long will it take?
